FORMER RESIDENT OF ALCESTER DIES
Dr. Wendell “Speed” Edson of Bellflower, Calif., a former resident of Alcester and well known by many in this community, died suddenly at his home last Thursday. His wife is employed and when she left home that morning Dr. Edson seemed to be in his usual health. It was not learned here whether or not he went to his office that day. When she returned home, she found his body.
Dr. Edson was 48 years of age at the time of his death. He was a graduate of the dentistry school of Creighton University and after receiving his degree he practiced at Alcester for a few years.
About 17 years ago he went to California and practiced at Bellflower. He was married to Margaret Case of Hawarden, Iowa and to this union were born two children, a son and a daughter.
The son is in the Navy and the daughter is married and lives in Alabama. He also leaves to two sisters, Mrs. Chas. McDonald and Mrs. G. E. Anderson, of Hawarden, and two brothers, Ray Edson of Tyler, Texas, and Dewey Edson of Madison, Wis. His father, A. E. Edson of Alcester, passed away a short time ago.
Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Anderson spent the winter in the Edson home and left for Hawarden the day before he passed away. Mrs. Edson got in touch with Mr. and Mrs. Anderson at Pueblo, Colo., and notified them of his death but, as they were traveling by car, it was quite impossible for them to return to California.
