Clara M. Mackey
ELK POINT, S.D. – Clara M. Mackey, 86, of Elk Point died Wednesday in a nursing home in Elk Point after a brief illness. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Anderson Funeral Home in Elk Point. The Rev. Oswald Elbe will officiate.
Burial will be in the Elk Point Cemetery. A prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Mrs. Mackey, the former Clara M. Simons, was born May 4, 1900, in Elk Point and graduated from Elk Point High School.
She married Frank Mackey Dec. 11, 1917, in Elk Point. They farmed in the Elk Point area a number of years and moved to Westfield, Iowa, in 1961. He died Feb. 21, 1966. She moved to Elmhurst, Ill., in 1968 and returned to Elk Point in 1982, where she was a resident of Prairie Estates Care Center.
Mrs. Mackey was a member of Westfield Congregational Church and Truth Rebekah Lodge 127 of Elk Point.
Survivors include a son, Francis of Sioux City; four daughters, Mrs. Roland (Margaret) Fletcher of Des Plaines, Ill., Mrs. Darrel (Elaine) Hunt of Sioux City, Mrs. Robert (Fern) Charbonneau of Elk Point and Mrs. Richard (Ruth Ann) Asmussen of Wood Dale, Ill.; 29 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.
NOTE: Her mother's maiden name is Mahagan.
