A Victim of Pneumonia

Byron Smythe passed away at his home in this city on Saturday evening of last week after an illness of a week with pneumonia. He was taken ill on January 11th and it was soon evident that he could not long survive but his death came, nevertheless as a severe shock to the family and friends.

Byron was born in Elk Point on February 1st, 1873 and his whole life has been spent in this city. He was a harness maker for a number of years but for the past two years has been in the employ of P. L. Kelly. There are left to mourn his demise an aged mother, Mrs. F. W. Smythe, one sister, Miss Martha Smythe, seven brothers, Frank and Antoine of this city, Edward of Scotland, S.D., Francis of Akron, Henry of Sioux City, Dan of Boise, Idaho, and Martin of Medicine Lake, Washington. All but the last two were here for the funeral. Byron was a likable fellow and a host of friends mourn his loss.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Father Salmon at the Catholic church on Monday morning and the remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery.

The sympathy of all is with the mother, sister and brothers in their sorrow.

CARD of THANKS.

We wish to thank the friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us during the sickness and death of our beloved son and brother. ~Mrs. F. W. Smythe and Family
