According Cindy Snyder’s cousin who lives in Cuba, "Grace said Joe Mesnard (Manore) was very handsome and a champion wrestler on both sides of the river.  "He never came to Cuba. Auntie always said he died of T.B. but in a letter from poose to Grace poose, your grandmother says that she hopes his truck garden will be a success".
Joseph Mesnard was buried in the Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn NY, in the Howard lot on May 24, 1904, Lot 1191, Section 77.
