FUNERAL HELD FOR HELEN E. ALSTIEL
Helen Elaine Alstiel was born May 15, 1931, near Viborg, SD., the daughter of Erwin and Daisy Jensen. She was baptized June 21, 1931 at Bethany Lutheran Church in viborg and was confirmed in the Bethany Lutheran Church near Hurley, SD., May 18, 1947. She graduated from Hurley High School in 1949 and from the South Dakota Academy of Hair Stylists.
She married Verne Altstiel at Viborg on June 11, 1950. Their marriage was blessed with three sons and one daughter. She joined the Zion Lutheran Church, Mitchell, SD., on October 18, 1973, and remained a faithful member there until the time of her death. She was always active in the life of the church and found joy in serving her Lord in various ways. Her loving service in the churches where she held membership and in the communities where she lived will be a cherished memory for all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She died at Sioux Valley Hospital on Monday, August 26, 1985. She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, Verne, of Ethan, SD; her four children and spouses: Terry and Charleen Altstiel, Sturgis, SD, Shirley and John Mulder, Yankton, SD, Joel and Jody Alstiel, Costa Mesa, California, and Steve and Marsha Altstiel, Italy; her mother, Daisy Jensen of Viborg, SD; two brothers: Donald, Adrian, MN, and Robert, Garretson, SD; three sisters, Rosalie Harper, Portland, OR, Audrey Anderson, Hurley, SD, Joy Jensen, Viborg, SD; and four grandchildren: Michael and Sherrie Alstiel, Sturgis, SD and Christopher and Nathan Mulder, Yankton, SD.
She was preceded in death by her father and a sister.
