LAST RITES HELD FOR ARTHUR P. JENSEN, MONDAY, SEPT. 10th
Funeral services for Arthur P. Jensen, who passed away suddenly from a heart attack on Wednesday, September 5th, were held at Bethany Lutheran Church on Monday, with Rev. K. R. Jensen officiating. Roger Anderson sang two solos, accompanied on the piano by his mother, Mrs. Oliver Anderson.
Interment was at Rosehill cemetery with the Viborg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were: Fred Skola, Carl Lauridsen, Arthur Alendal, Leslie Petersen, Ralph Long and W. H. VanOrsdel. Members of the Bethany Willing Workers and Rebekah Lodge served lunch after the committal service.
Arthur Peter Jensen was born October 4th, 1899, at Fremont, Nebraska, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Jensen. He spent his boyhood in Fremont and moved with his parents to South Dakota in his early teens.
He was baptized in the Lutheran faith and at the time of his death was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church at Viborg.
On March 22nd, 1928, he was united in marriage with Erma Sorensen. They lived in Davis one year and then moved to the farm south of Viborg, which was his home until his death. Recently he had taken employment with the Rural Telephone Association.
He was a director of the Co-op Elevator Association , the Co-op Oil Company, and the Rural Electric Association. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Encampment and Rebekaha.
He is survived by his widow, Erma; two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Sorensen of Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Daisy Jensen of Hurley, S.D.; and two brothers: Frank Jensen of Palos Verdes, Calif., and Victor Jensen of California. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Anna Richards, Mrs. Emma Mayer, and Robert Jensen.
