Mrs. Jensen Dies in S. F.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday for Mrs. Marie Jensen, 96, Bethany Lutheran Home, who had 125 grandchildren, including 12 great-great-grandchildren.
The city’s seventh oldest resident, she died at a local hospital Saturday. Mrs. Jensen had been inactive since last summer and was hospitalized for the past three weeks.
Born Oct. 7, 1862, in Denmark, she came to the United States with her parents when 21. The family settled on a farm west of Viborg.
After her marriage to Lars Jensen Aug. 22, 1883, near Viborg, she continued to reside on a farm in that area until 1945. She lived in De Smet with a daughter until 1953, when she moved to Sioux Falls.
Mr. Jensen died in 1916. Mrs. Jensen was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas, in 1937, and three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include six sons, Harry and Alvin, both of Sioux Falls; James, Yakima, Wash.; John T., Viborg; Alfred, Laurel, Neb., and Charles, Custer; four daughters, Mrs. Paul Jensen, De Smet; Mrs. Adolph Christensen and Mrs. Jens Miller, both of Viborg, and Mrs. Alfred Henningsen, Ventura, Calif.; 54 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church at Viborg, with the Rev. Gordon McMillen officiating. Burial will be in the Turkey Valley Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Banton Chapel until Wednesday morning, when it will be taken to Viborg to lie in state at the church until 10 minutes before the service. The casket will then be closed.

MRS. MARIE JENSEN
Services for Mrs. Marie Jensen, 96, of 1901 S. Holly Ave., were held today at the First Baptist Church at Viborg. She died Saturday. Pallbearers were Jimmie Miller, Daryl Jensen, Kenneth Christensen, Charles Jensen Jr., Verlyn Jensen and Bernell Miller.
