Window Washer Injured in Fall from Building.
Earl Jensen, 45, Sioux Falls, S.D., fell from a second story window ledge at the E. & W. building, Fourth and Jackson streets, Saturday and suffered undetermined injuries. He complained of pain in the back, arms and legs. No X-rays had been taken by Saturday night.
Mr. Jensen fell into the path of a pensioned police officer, Harvey Tucker, who was walking north in Jackson street at the time.
A nurse at St. Vincent hospital said Jensen’s condition was “fairly good” Saturday night.
Tucker said he looked up just in time to see Jensen, a window washer, slip from the ledge and plunge to the sidewalk. Tucker, a former patrolman, said that Jensen landed on his stomach and face.
Police said Jensen’s safety belt evidently had not been hooked.
Tucker said Jensen landed about five feet from him. He said Jensen apparently had relied on using an open window to support him when he adjusted his belt and shortly after he climbed on the ledge the window accidentally slammed shut and there was nothing to cling to.
