Note: Fall River County is located at the far, southwestern corner of South Dakota. The county seat is Hot Springs. To the east of Fall River is the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

The green area represents the lower portion of the Black Hills National Forest. The outer, northern sections of Fall River is mostly "scrub hills" or "foot hills," while the southern areas are semi-desert, sand hills.
