Eliza Thayer Blake
1836-1915
Eliza Thayer Blake was born in Chester, New Hampshire on May 29, 1836 to Lucius B. Blake Honors, "Lucius Blake Family Names and Birthdates Possibly from a Family Bible," (Honors 1990). Her mother may have been Lucy Hall, although no documents to support that premise have been located. She was living with her parents in 1840, 1850 and 1860. Eliza lived with her mother, Lucy after her father passed away in 1867 remaining in Manchester, New Hampshire. They are listed many years in Manchester from 1871 to 1880 in the Manchester City Directory. Eliza made her living as a dress maker while living in Manchester. After her brother William's wife Emma passed away in 1878, she and Lucy moved to Turner County and were enumerated on the 1880 census. Eliza married the neighbor, John Overton in 1882, and was living with him and his widowed mother. She also applied for a homestead which for which she received the patent on John and Eliza Overton lived in Turner County until sometime after the 1900 census when they moved to Hennessey, Oklahoma with Eliza's brother William J. Blake and his wife Helen. Eliza passed away on June 13, 1915 in Hennessey, OK. She had no children, and was survived by her husband, John Overton and two brothers, Dr. Clarence H. Blake of Los Angeles, CA and Mr. Lucius Eli Blake, of Hennessey.
